Howard Gardner is the renowned Harvard professor and education expert who developed Multiple Intelligences Theory.  In the above video, taken from Edutopia.org, Gardner answers questions about Multiple Intelligences Theory.  He also speaks about student-directed learning, assessment reform, and a myriad of other topics.  It is one thing to read about Gardner; it is another to see the man himself speak about his work.  Watch and enjoy!

Dave, Thanks for sharing the video. I found the comments by Dr. Gadner to be a professional challenge to teach how kids learn. In my classroom I make a conscious effort to incorporate different learning styles and teach in a way that targets the seven (eight) intelligences.

Thanks jbrinling. I agree… accepting Dr. Gardner’s ideas as a personal challenge motivates me to try new things and reflect on my own teaching.

Truly inspiiring – if only we could all be as challenged to let the child develop from ‘within’. Thanks for the video – really healped me with my assignment.

Gardner seems to voice things in a way that a lot of teachers find inspiring. I’d be interested to read more about the schools out there that have modeled themselves around MI theory.
